Hartberg

A town of the senses

Hartberg - Welcome to a town whose roots are two and a half thousand years' deep. And just as Hartberg was the first meeting place in mediaeval times for the colourful nobles of the Stryian Mark, so it shines out today as a centre with historical richness, a place for bon vivants, a town of culture relieved by friendliness - for enthusiasts, dreamers and those who enjoy life to the full.

„cittá slow":Hartberg is a town where you can rest, enjoy, decelerate and cultivate cultural idiosyncracies.

Since July 2009 Hartberg has been distinguished by the title "cittá slow". Deceleration after the Italian model of the "Slow Food Movement" is a motto for the 6,900 inhabitants of this district capital town - they are all committed to conscious slowness.

Remain true to your town roots but stay connected to the region plus offer heartfelt hospitality to guests - these are our top priorities.

A garden walk through the show garden, vineyards and private gardens of the town continues this philosophy in a charming way.

Maxoom-Kino & Oldtimer-Museum Kröpfl:

The Maxoom by the Eco Park houses the largest cinema screen in Styria and shows breath-taking feature films and documentaries. The Oldtimer Museum Kröpfl with more than 230 exhibits from the history of the automobile is also well worth a visit.

Places of interest:

The Ringkogel north of the town of Hartberg is 789 m above sea level and is part of the Masenberg massif. It is the local mountain for the district capital of Hartberg that lies at its feet. The Ringwarte, an observation tower on the Ringkogel is a good place for visitors the see the glorious views across the hilly East Styrian countryside right into Hungary. The Ringwarte was built in 1906 and completely renovated on the occasion of its 100th anniversary when a new refuge was erected.

Every year in September there is a starlit hike and mountain mass!

Motor Mythos Classic:

That deceleration and speed are not always mutually exclusive is shown by the Motor Mythos Classic® under sponsorship of GARANTA. It attracts old-timer pilots from near and far into the old town. A fine mix of the noble metal and admiration.
