Feldbach is the district town and shopping centre for Styrian thermal spa and volcanic country and is a lively, healthy place and a busy commercial centre. Modern urban infrastructures and attractive leisure complexes make this town with nearly 5,000 inhabitants the focus of the district.
Overview:
Feldbach is a friendly town of manageable size where visitors are offered many of the kind of opportunities often only found in larger towns. It is a place to enjoy the arts, a shopping spree or just experience the ambience. It has a lot to offer those seeking relaxing vacation days. Shop in boutiques, stores and markets, relax in one of the many cosy inns or cafés and stroll through the town in the warm sunshine of South East Styria and simply enjoy the streets, narrow lanes and parks.

Culture and leisure:
Cultural life in Feldbach includes a range of different events involving national and international artistes and you will not be disappointed. Those who prefer active leisure time can choose between an open-air or indoor pool, outdoor and indoor tennis courts, a multi-sports complex, a skate park, an artificial ice- rink, signed cycle and hiking tracks in the beautiful hilly countryside and lots more.

Steinerner Metzen:
The symbol of the town is to be seen in front of the town hall. It is the "Steinerner Metzen" - a mediaeval measure for corn. It was the model measurement used to adjust barrels, sheepskin containers, kegs etc. And it was not just used for market but for the whole of the provincial, judicial region.

Historical:
A town with history: first named in 1188, 1265 market rights by prince of the province, 1362 honoured by Rudolf the Founder with high court jurisdiction and right to trade. 1884 granted town privileges by the Emperor Franz Joseph I. The "Feldbach Tabor" still bears testimony to the centuries-long menace from Hajducs, Kurucs and Turks.
Tabor-Museum:
The Tabor Museum is the jewel in the town. The Tabor was a refuge fort and originates from the year 1469. The defence construction around the church is the best preserved of any in the land and today houses more than a dozen museums that document life in East Styria from the Stone Age to the very recent past.

The town's parish church and Villa Hold:
The colourfully painted church tower is a visible sign of the diversity and rich colours of Feldbach. Next to the church is the neo-Gothic Villa Hold. The villa was built in 1890 by order of Josefine Hold, the owner of a brewery. In 1918 it was bought by the Sparkasse bank and turned into administrative office by prisoners of war. Today it houses the town's music school, the registry office and the association for citizenship.
