Bad Radkersburg - History & love of life
This is a historic spa town located in the south of Styrian spa country and eventful in lots of special ways: Latin charm, love of life and a modern spirit fuse with history and tradition. Bad Radkersburg was awarded the European Gold Medal for the Preservation of Historic Monuments for the care it takes over its ancient monuments.

History:
In the 13th century the old settlement underwent precise planning from which from the present town grew. In 1299 this important trading place received town privileges and developed into a significant fortress against Hungary. In the 16th century the fortificatons were extended by builders from Upper Italy to create protection from the Osman Turks. The present-day Renaissance city wall encircles the town with barely a gap. Since 1970 the town has experienced an economic upturn by exploiting its mineral and thermal water deposits.

City charm:
both multicultural and 700 years young.
History as a real experience and a modern spirit exist here side-by-side to create the town's very special charm.
A combination of southern charm and a plethora of small, fine shops and inviting cafés make Bad Radkersburg an especially attractive destination.

Enjoyment of wine:
Those who know something about wine like to come here. And those who know nothing about wine will learn a great deal. And this learning process will be quite special because the South Styrian wine region is unique. A mild climate and the volcanic soil allow year-on-year grape harvests of the highest quality.
Art & Culture:
In Bad Radkersburg the emphasis is on live culture all year round. Expect to find a large number of shows and events ranging from the museum in the armoury to art in all its manifestations. Glenn Miller melodies ring out across picturesque squares from July to August with jazz, blues and brass music. In the conference centre in Bad Radkersburg, cultural events and meetings are given a new dimension.

Cycle tours:
The town is both destination and starting point within an impressive cycling region. Cyclists can expect to discover hundreds of kilometres of well-signed cycle track. The cycling season begins earlier on account of the mild climate and finishes later too.
Enjoy cycling for leisure in idyllic vineyards, or cross-border tours to Slovenia - from family cycling to leisure and more ambitious sports cycling tours.

Medicinal & thermal springs:
Bad Radkersburg has the very special privilege of having two very active medicinal springs: a thermal spring that is both relaxing and revitalising and the town spring that is rich in magnesium.
The Parktherme spa with its hot springs and - as a special feature - a 50 m sports pool, kept pleasantly temperate most of the year for more athletic lengths - is an exciting destination. In addition you can take advantage of the gentle massage treatments offered here, relaxing saunas and self-indulgent menus.
